case study: waste heat recuperation - steam

In this case we look at a 3.5 bar steam waste stream in a chemical plant. The flow rate is 4kg/s. On site there is cooling water available with a maximum temperature of 25°C in summer and a maximum flow rate of 200m³/hour. It is a continuous process with an availability of at least 8500 hours/year.

With this input an E-rational 250kW ORC module is selected. The expected total yearly electricity production is more than 2.000 MWh. Above this, by condensing the steam in the E-rational machine and feeding it back in the condensate drain, a water consumption reduction of 122.000 m³/year is achieved.
